年を越してからやればいいものを、この中途半端な時期からブログを始めます笑 思い立ったが吉日！
ということでまず一発目はyoutubeより、ドラマFriendsの1シーンから英語の勉強です。動画・シーン背景・英語スクリプト・まとめ の順に載せています。

- シーン背景
【～30秒】Monica (左のキレイな女性) とChandler (ハンサムな青いシャツの男性) は、ふとしたことがきっかけで、それまでの親友関係から進展、一晩を共に過ごす。お互いの気持ちを探りつつも、なんとかもう1度出来ないかどうか模索する2人。
【30秒～】Joey (途中から入ってくるマッチョでキュートな男性) はなかなか売れない役者。学がないキャラクターで、普段は口数が少ないのだが、何故かこういう時に限って真剣に仕事の悩みを相談する。どうやら身長が低いのも悩みらしい。
- Script
Monica: You know, maybe it's best we never got to do it again.
Chandler: Yeah, it kinda makes that-that one night special.
Chandler: You know, technically we still are over international waters.
Monica: I'm going to go to the bathroom. Maybe I'll see you there in a bit?
Chandler: Okay.
Joey: Hey, can I ask you something?
Chandler: Uh...No.
Joey: Felicity and I, we're watching My Giant, right? And I was thinking, I'm never going to be as good an actor as that giant. Do you think I'm just wasting my life with this acting thing?
Chandler: No.
Joey: I mean, the giant is like five years younger than me, you know. You think I'll ever get there?
Chandler: ...Yes.
Joey: Thanks man.
Chandler: Okay man.
Joey: But what about how much taller he is than me?
Joey: I mean, there is no way I can make myself taller now. You know? And who knows what science will come up with in the future? But Chandler, what if I die, an unsuccessful, regular-size man?
Hey Monica, wow you have been in the bathroom for like a half hour.
Monica: I know.
Joey: Had the beef tips, huh?

さて、いかがだったでしょうか。
個人的に注目したいのは、Joeyのセリフに何度も出ている比較級の文章です。
I'm never going to be as good an actor as that giant.
the giant is like five years younger than me.
But what about how much taller he is than me.
比較級は英語表現を豊かにするというのがよく分かると思います。聞き取るのも、自分で使うのも難しいですが、使いこなせるようになると英語の世界がぐっと広がりますね！
余談ですが、Joey演じるMatt LeBlanc 自身も身長が低いのがコンプレックスだとか笑 身長は178~179 cm。Friendsでは他の男性陣2人が高いので、余計目立ってしまうのでしょうね。キャラクターの魅力も勿論ですが、演じている役者の魅力も抜群のFriends。これからも定期的に更新していこうと思います。
